For the editing we will be asking our target audience questions about the film. These questions will be the style of the titles, the name of the film and this quote we wish to use.
We also found two quotes that could of been used in the sequence they were by Dr Seuss and Anna Funder.
The questions will be a choice from two options and any suggestions the audience has after they hear the story line. The quote question will have a choice between Anna Funder's "Memory, like so much else, is unreliable. Not only for what it hides and what it alters, but also for what it reveals" and Dr Seuss's "Sometimes you will never know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory". This will be shown in the title sequence at the beginning. The next question will be between the two chosen font types below.
The final question about the name of the film is open to suggestions we all agree on, however we gave a choice of the two name 'memories' and 'Amnesia'. We will be asking the target audience that we found in our research into thrillers, young adults - Middle aged. We will ask around our classes and our older siblings in their 20's and 30's. This means we will cover a wider range of the audience rather than the one end of the spectrum.
Update:
Elliot and I (Max), did a survey around our IT class and to older siblings. What we found was very interesting and was not expected. First of all the quote's before the movie starts. We had one other suggestion which was "Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?" a fade of this into "Insanity is doing the exact same thing, expecting the outcome to change, that is crazy". at the beginning of our 2 minutes and then at the end have it repeat "Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?". We thought this would be really cool as it has a very dark theme and suggests that there is insanity in our story line. However we are not too sure as we had many votes for Anna Funder's quote "Memory, like so much else, is unreliable. Not only for what it hides and what it alters, but also for what it reveals". In my opinion I prefer the suggestion however as a group vote and over whelming amount who said that the Anna quote was better, I think that we will use that quote. The surprise to us was how people thought about the Dr Seuss quote. Many answers to why was because he is portrayed to children books and as such would then be taken less seriously.
For the font we decided to use the first one which spells "memories". This is called the x-files font. We did not expect many suggestions for this and did not receive one! Almost everyone voted for this font as it looked as if it came out of a notebook, which is used to trigger memories with reminders. The other one was too military-esque and with our movie which had no theme of this, we agreed that we would use the x-files font. The final question we asked was about the title of the movie. Our suggestions were 'Memories' and 'Amnesia'. We had many suggestions but none of them were voted by other members of the class. We also had many saying that they prefer memories over amnesia. This is because Amnesia reminds the audience too much of horror rather than mystery and thriller. This decision seemed to be very easy as too call it Memories with almost all 20 votes saying they prefer it.
