Composition in our thriller opening
Scene 1
In scene 1 in the interrogation room. Lead room is used throughout the scene with shot/ reverse shot where the camera is always looking in front of the characters showing the audience the area the character is looking through. This makes it feel natural for the audience and keeps the setting less easily seen.
Scene 2
Scene 2 is in a bar where it is very chilled out, as you would expect. The first shot will be an establishing shot from POV. We will have the characters and props laid out so that the crucial parts of the scene our in the shot. After this we will have a mid-shot which shows us the characters and the mood in the bar. Ricks mate will be on the left 1/3 of the shot while Rick is on the right 1/3. This means the camera will be mainly focusing on the ground they are talking over, this shows us where each character is before shot/ reverse shot takes place. When Rick collapses and falls, Ricks mate is in the center of the screen. This is too suggest it was him who drugged Rick.
Scene 4 - Grave digging
The first shot is a long shot with the grave digger in the distance with his shovel on his shoulder. He will be centred in the frame as he is the centre of attention. The next shot, extreme close up of shovel, wil also follow the same rules as this and be the centre of attention.
